Amid the globalization context, personal data is not only a private asset of each citizen, but also a strategic national resource closely linked to human rights, civil rights, and national security.
Many countries have already adopted dedicated legislation on personal data, considering it a core element of their digital transformation strategies and efforts to protect national digital sovereignty.
Le Thu Ha, a NA deputy of Lao Cai province, said that protecting personal data is a cornerstone of digital transformation and the growth of the digital economy and society.
“Classifying personal data into basic and sensitive categories, an approach consistent with international standards, is essential. It’s also important to identify a lead agency, whether independent or under the Ministry of Public Security, to coordinate efforts across ministries and serve as the national representative in international data protection cooperation," Ha added.
In the morning, legislators discussed the draft amendment to the Law on Corporate Income Tax.
