The Army spokesman reiterated that no organised infrastructure of a terrorist organisation currently exists in Pakistan. His statement was in reference to unfounded discussions by the US and Afghanistan on the presence of terrorist bases in Pakistan.

He added that whatever the army has carried out is for the Pakistani people and clarified that the Coalition Support Fund, received from the US, is reimbursement of money spent for operations in support of the coalition in the fight against the al-Qaeda terrorist network. The ISPR chief said that without Pakistan’s support, al-Qaeda would not have been defeated.

Ghafoor said Pakistan has begun construction of additional posts to protect the border with Afghanistant and control movement, adding that peace in Afghanistan is the same as peace in Pakistan.

The statement was made nearly 2 weeks after the country’s security forces were put into high alert following an Islamic State suicide attack at a mosque which killed 9 people.
