(VOVworld) – In a CNN interview broadcast Sunday, US President Barack Obama said he will do everything he can to close the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

He said the prison continues “to inspire jihadists and extremists around the world” and that the US is spending millions of dollars for each inmate housed there, which “runs contrary to the values of the US.”
The US Defense Department said Saturday it had sent home four Afghan detainees held at Guantanamo Bay. Guantanamo’s prison population has gradually declined to its current total of 132 since President Barack Obama took office in 2009.
