(VOVworld) – Vietnam saw a huge spike in tourist numbers during the Lunar New Year Festival. The Ho Chi Minh City-based Saigontourist Travel Service Company served over 50,000 visitors, up 20% from last year. Most foreign tourists came from France, Germany, China, Russia, and the US. In Hanoi, customers booking for tours during the Festival with the Vietrantour Travel Company rose 150%, amounting to 30,000.

Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to botanical gardens and entertainment centers in Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi received more than 230,000 visitors, 7.5% more than last year. In Central Vietnam, Hue and Danang attracted 92,000 and 206,000 tourists, respectively.
