New Year 2024 celebrated across Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -Welcoming the New Year 2024, the pedestrian space in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem District is opening from Friday through Monday to cater to local residents and visitors. This means that the space around Hoan Kiem Lake and neighboring areas, as well as the pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter, will be accessible until midnight on January 1, 2024, extending beyond the usual weekend-only schedule.

On Sunday evening, there will a Countdown program in Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and August Revolution Square.

Nightlife tours are offerred at major heritage sites in Hanoi, including Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature, and Hoa Lo Prison relic.

The Opera House in the capital will host the Hanoi concert on Monday, January 1, in celebration of the New Year, featuring a performance of famous Italian soprano Angela Nisi. She will perform several opera excerpts by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini.

In Sa Pa mountain resort town, on New Year's Eve, visitors can admire the pink blooming cherry trees, hunt for ice and snow and enjoy a 15-minute low-level fireworks display to send off old year and ring in New Year 2024.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Countdown Festival takes place Sunday night at Nguyen Hue Walking Street. There will be fireworks displays at the Saigon River Tunnel and Dam Sen Cultural Park. Tourism Week and New Year's welcome ceremony for international guests will be launched at Tan Son Nhat airport on January 1.

Can Tho City, the gateway to the Mekong Delta, is welcoming the New Year and the city's 20th anniversary of belonging to central government. "The flavor of western city" is one of many art performances serving the public on New Year holiday.
