(VOVworld) – The Party and State have always attached great importance to sustainable poverty reduction which is considered a foundation for ensuring national political stability, defense, and socio-economic development. At a ceremony to launch Month for the Poor in Hanoi on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said the government has offered synchronous mechanisms and policies to attract investment to upgrade infrastructure, build houses, support production, and promote healthcare development, education, and vocational training, to help people escape poverty.

He called on people from all walks of life to raise funds and take care of the poor:
"Ministries and sectors are urged to provide instructions to promptly implement the Overall Scheme on multidimensional poverty measurement method for the 2016 – 2020 period. It’s necessary to integrate poverty reduction and new rural development policies with other socio-economic policies for better sustainable poverty reduction.
The event was organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and will last until November 18.
