After four days, the group, with more than 26,000 members living all over Australia, has raised more than 12,000 USD to send back to Vietnam.
Ms. Nguyen Bao Chau, a member of the group's executive board, said the group has consistently organized donation drives to support people in Vietnam during difficult times over the years. “Since the Covid-19 pandemic, I have joined every charity program to help people in need in Vietnam. Everyone in the group has a connection to Vietnam, and they all want to contribute and help the homeland,” said Chau.
In addition to the funds raised, the group also organized 5,000 medical kits, containing essential medications, to send to those in the flood-affected areas.
In the coming days, the group plans to continue sending support of food and essential items, as well as seedlings and fertilizer, to Vietnam to help people in disaster-stricken areas quickly stabilize their lives.
