(VOVWORLD) - China has given a positive response to reducing tension in the East Sea, including freedom of navigation and aviation, according to an announcement released by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak on Monday.

The announcement quoted Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang during the ASEAN-China summit as saying that the East Sea will become an anchor of peace and stability and China would not use any military force.

Mr. Razak said that during the summit, Premier Li Keqiang also said China was ready to resume talks to finalize the Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea and was committed to maintaining regional peace.

PM Razak said China has shown a more positive attitude, a key factor in resolving East Sea issues. He said any difference should be managed in a positive and constructive manner based on international law, maximum self-restraint and no use of force or threats.
