Mr. Quang was speaking during talks with China’s Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in Hanoi on Monday.

The host asked for unceasing consolidation of political trust between the two Parties and countries through the maintenance of high-level visits and meetings.

President Quang said China and ASEAN should continue to fully and seriously implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and conduct practical negotiations to build an effective and efficient Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

Mr. Xi congratulated Vietnam on successfully hosting the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting. He said he will continue working closely with Vietnam to increase high-level meetings to share experience in Party building and national development, connect the “Belt and Road” initiative with the “Two Corridors, One Economic Belt” framework, build cross-border economic areas and launch key projects.

He noted that China will well manage disputes, maintain peace and stability at sea while increasing exchanges and sharing experiences to deal with challenges and fighting crimes.
