(VOVWORLD) -At least 15 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Syrian capital Damascus on Thursday, the state news agency SANA reported, saying the attack targeted residential buildings in Al Mazzeh and Qudssaya neighborhoods in Damascus. The Israeli army on the same day attacked about 30 targets in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut, which they said the attacks were aimed at weakening the military morale of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. Before conducting the air strikes, the Israeli army published a map of the buildings that were targeted and asked people to quickly leave the buildings.

Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said in a statement on Thursday that the country is close to an agreement to end the conflict with Hezbollah. Cohen said Tel Aviv was seeking an assurance it would retain freedom of action should Hezbollah return to border areas where it could pose a threat to Israeli communities.
