The Lebanese cabinet also approved the goals proposed by the US, which would lead to the disarmament of Hezbollah and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the five remaining locations still occupied by Israel in southern Lebanon.
President Joseph Aoun pledged to assert full control over weapons throughout the country “despite the difficulties,” after Hezbolla rejected a government plan to charge the army with disarming the group by the end of the year.
