Peskov said these contacts were effective due to establishing a line of communication between Moscow and Washington through which to exchange views on multiple issues, including the conflict in Ukraine.

He denied any discussion of a meeting between Putin and Trump, stressing that such a meeting would need extensive preparations.

Before Witkoff’s one-day visit to Russia, President Trump urged President Putin to move faster to end the conflict in Ukraine.
