Mr. Juncker told the Spanish magazine Al Pais that his meeting with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson last Monday was constructive and promising, saying the two sides still have a good chance of reaching an agreement.

Johnson is readying the UK to leave the EU on October 31 with or without a deal. The most contentious issue is the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Johnson has promised not to sign any agreement that provides for a hard border.
