Meanwhile, a source close to Hamas said that the ceasefire would allow a significant increase in humanitarian aid into Gaza, after the UN warned of a famine in the region.

In a related development, US Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with Israeli cabinet minister Benny Gantz at the White House on Monday. They are scheduled to seek measures to reduce Palestinian civilian casualties, ensure a temporary ceasefire, release hostages held in Gaza, and increase aid to this region.
