Iran says it will respond to reimposition of UN sanctions

(VOVWORLD) - Iran will react to any re-imposition of United Nations sanctions over its nuclear program, Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Monday.

Baghaei said the European parties have themselves committed gross and fundamental violations of their obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He added they have failed to fulfill the duties they undertook under the JCPOA, so they have no legal or moral standing to resort to the snapback mechanism — a process that would re-impose sanctions on Tehran.

Baghaei said no time or place has been set to resume nuclear talks with the US, which restarted after President Trump’s second term began but were halted after last month’s attacks on Iran by Israel and the US.
