On the 137th anniversary of International Labor Day, May 1st, hundreds of Cambodian workers marched along streets to ask for better working conditions and higher wages.

In South Korea thousands of workers took to the streets in central Seoul calling for improved workers' rights and working conditions.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva has pledged to raise the minimum wage and announced new income tax exemption level for low-income earners.

The Italian government introduced measures to improve working conditions and increase wages for workers.

In Canada, the government and the Canadian Public Service Union representing more than 155,000 workers have reached an agreement on a new salary, ending the largest public sector strike in the country.

Originating from the protest of tens of thousands of workers in Chicago, the US, in 1886, International Labor Day with the slogan "8-hour working day”, has been observed in many countries around the world to honor labor and forge labor solidarity.
