Guatemala’s Attorney General issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for Mr Molina in connection with a corruption and tax evasion investigation. Alejandro Maldonado – Guatemala’s Vice President – was sworn in as Molina’s successor.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the US respects the resignation of Mr Molina and is ready to work with caretaker President Maldonado.
