In the US, approximately 6,000 police officers will be deployed to Times Square for this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Thousands of cameras have been placed at metro stations and several routes in and out the city have been blockaded. Since the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, security has been enhanced at public places in New York, especially at Christmas and New Year.
