The main cast includes South Korean megastar Jung Il-Woo, as well as acclaimed Vietnamese actors Tuan Tran, Hong Dao, and Juliet Bao Ngoc. The film is directed by Mo Hong-Jin, who also wrote the screenplay, and co-produced by Anh Teu Studio, Sate Entertainment, and Motive Pictures.
“Going to Abandon Mom” is an original story about family and was inspired by Vietnamese people and culture.
According to the production team, the title reflects the characters’ emotional struggles when caring for their elderly mother, and explores their answers to the question “What to do when love becomes burden?” It is a production that feels close-to-home and relatable for both Vietnamese and international audiences, the team added.
