(VOVworld) – European countries continue their efforts to deal with an influx of migrants from Africa and the Middle East who are seeking better lives in Europe.

Greece sent 250 extra riot police to the resort island of Kos where the number of migrants and refugees has reached 7,000.  The EU approved funding programs of 528 million USD and proposed transferring 16,000 people in need of refuge from Greece to other EU member states. Greece received around 40,000 illegal migrants in July.
