He told the press conference in Cairo on Tuesday that the proposal also includes the release of some Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza. This is part of attempts to end the conflict between Israel and  Hamas in the Mediterranean coastal enclave.

According to Palestinian sources, a senior Hamas delegation plans to meet with Egyptian officials to discuss the ceasefire on Wednesday.

In related news, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the idea of reaching a partial ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement with Hamas is “no longer feasible.” Netanyahu stressed that Israel’s goal remains to end the conflict, defeat Hamas, and secure the release of all hostages under a final agreement on Israel’s terms.
