Liberia is the worst-hit nation by the Ebola virus which has killed 1,200 Liberians. Samukai described the virus as wild fire which devours everything in its path, adding that Liberia lacks the infrastructure, logistical capacity, professional expertise, and financial resources to halt this disease. The Ebola epidemic has worsened since it first broke out in 1976. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced that he is planning to hold a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly later this month to enlist international efforts in fighting Ebola.
