Earlier, several news agencies asked the Netherlands Minister of Security and Justice Ard van der Steur to make public the documents on the crash under the Freedom of Information Act. In response, Steur insisted that despite the importance of the crash to the public, some secrets cannot be revealed yet.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crashed in eastern Ukraine on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, killing all 298 passengers and crew members on board, including 193 Dutch citizens.
