(VOVworld) – The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired three KN-1 short-range missiles into its eastern Sea on Sunday, the Republic of Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) said. The launch was conducted from the North’s eastern border town of Wonsan toward Mayang Island. A JCS officer said the launch is presumed to be Pyongyang's additional test-firing of the anti-ship projectiles after two rounds of the same tests were carried out in February and last month, noting that the cruise missiles flew some 100 kilometers. The JCS said the RoK’s army has been closely watching DPRK’s movements, and has maintained a full-fledged posture against their possible provocations. Meanwhile, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Monday quoted that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has witnessed the test firing of new anti-ship missiles, which aimed at enemy’s simulation crafts, equipped for North Korean naval forces. KCNA did not specify the date and venues of the firing.
