Donald Trump was greeted by loud cheers as he walked to the stage in West Palm Beach, just after his win in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania was confirmed. The victory meant Trump would return to the White House for a second term.
Flanked by running mate James David Vance and family, the former President thanked thousands of his supporters across the country and called this year’s Republican campaign “the greatest political movement of all time.”
“We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible,” Trump said, adding that his victory will help America overcome many of its current challenges.
He said "We're going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help. And it needs help very badly. We're going to fix our borders. We're going to fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight and the reason is going to be just that.
Trump promised to bring “every ounce of energy, spirit and fight” to the job that Americans have entrusted to him, and that his second presidency “will truly be the golden age of America.”
He called for unity to make the country “special” again, set aside divisions, and vowed to lead America “in a straightforward way” by fulfilling every campaign promise.
