The factory’s systems and equipment are being tested to ensure they meet the quality and safety standards applied to all LEGO factories around the world. LEGO is expected to double the number of workers at the factory, who will enter an extensive training program on plastic molding and packaging, before it begins production in 2025.

The factory is also touted as environmentally friendly and one of LEGO’s most sustainable facilities, with over 12,400 rooftop solar panels capable of generating enough electricity to supply 1,270 households annually. It also aims for “zero waste to landfill,” using paper bags instead of plastic bags for packaging, LEGO said.

The project with a total investment of 1.3 billion USD, is part of LEGO’s strategy to expand its global production network, contributing to not only local economic development, but also shortening supply chain, reducing environmental impacts, and bringing LEGO to key markets in the Asia-Pacific region as well as learning opportunities to children worldwide.
