Mr. Ha, who is also deputy head of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, said at the meeting: "Localities in mountainous areas that are prone to landslides must continue to maintain their natural disaster responses. Local authorities must submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment their progress reports on building flood, landslide, flash flood, and geological hazard maps."
The Deputy PM urged localities and relevant parties to clearly assign tasks to on-site commands, on-site forces, and on-site personnel responsible for equipment and logistics. They must inspect routes prone to landslides, propose technical solutions to ensure long-term safety, and provide comprehensive assessments of their irrigation systems and hydro power reservoirs, he said.
Local authorities in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Lam Dong provinces said they are mobilizing all available personnel to rescue flood victims, set up temporary shelters, repair infrastructure, prevent disease and environmental pollution, and ensure that locals are kept warm and fed.
Ho Thi Nguyen Thao is chairwoman of the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee. "We have informed our localities on typhoon developments, issued operational commands to hydro-power reservoirs in the downstream of Ba river. We have also coordinated with Gia Lai province to adjust the water level in reservoirs. We have asked local authorities to implement response plans and notify vessels of the storm movement so they can move to safety," she said.
