At Thursday’s reception in Hanoi for Chief Operations Officer of the Denmark-based LEGO Group Carsten Rasmussen, Mr. Quang said the plant is a model for foreign investment attraction because it uses the kind of green production method that Vietnam and the world are heading toward.
Mr. Rasmussen thanked Vietnam’s support for the LEGO plant, which is the first carbon-neutral plant in the world.
LEGO is working with Binh Duong province to build a solar energy farm to serve the plant, which is expected to become operational in 2025, he said.
Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz said that, after LEGO invested 1 billion USD in building a factory in Binh Duong, another Danish corporation, Pandora, a jewelry brand, invested 150 million USD in another factory there.
