Dao Xuan Lai, head of the Climate Change and Environment Unit of the United Nations Development Program in Vietnam, said that the Vietnamese government is committed to resolving climate change issues.

In Vietnam, environmental protection benefits sustainable economic development while addressing climate change, Lai said, adding that in Vietnam's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the transportation sector contributes a quarter of Vietnam's emissions, so green transportation transformation and electric transportation play a very important role.

"UNDP is committed to working with the Ministry of Transport and schools to raise the awareness of young people — the savvy consumers of the future. This will help create a green economy", Lai said.

The contest is part of the project "Promoting the sustainable transition of electric transportation in Vietnam", supported by the government of Japan, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through policy improvement and environment for electric transportation development at the national level, and implement pilot activities to promote electric transportation in Vietnam.
