As of the end of February, 2,600 fishing vessels had been registered in a national database and 2,555 vessels had a valid fishing license. 684 vessels 15 meters or longer have a valid fishing license.

Dak Lak is doing a good job of fleet management, monitoring and controlling fishing activities, ensuring the traceability of caught seafood, handling violations and law enforcement, and supporting the career transition of vessel owners who no longer wish to engage in fishing. All vessels have completed the mandatory installation of vessel monitoring systems.

Ta Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said that on March 13, the EC inspection delegation will conduct a final inspection of IUU fishing prevention in Dak Lak.

“Departments, agencies, and localities must concentrate human resources, including the Inspectorate, Justice, Border Guard, Police, and the Department of Agriculture. We must prepare very thoroughly and be determined to get the yellow card withdrawn. This is our political responsibility and a crucial part of our fisheries development orientation,” Tuan said.
