Climate change response is everyone's responsibility: PM

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Thursday chaired the 3rd meeting of the national steering committee for implementing of Vietnam’s commitments at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to achieve zero net emissions by 2050.

Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said that combating climate change is a global issue that requires a global approach. He asked ministries, sectors, and localities to remove difficulties and introduce policies to facilitate the implementation of Vietnamese commitments at COP26.

He urged for urgent measures to minimize losses and improve resilience against climate change, with priority given to people's safety and livelihood, climate change proofed infrastructure, and energy transition based on local advantages and potential.

The Prime Minister said: "We need to mobilize resources and improve the institutions for green development while combining state, socialist and public private partnership financing. Human resources have to be restructured for better quality along with strengthening technological reform and energy governance with national interests come first”

The Prime Minister called for public-private partnership for independent and self-mastered economy and ensuring energy balance for production.
