PM Chinh sent the letter in response to the UN chief’s proposal to establish Vietnam-UN co-operation for climate change.

In his letter, PM Chinh thanked the UN, and the Secretary-General personally, for supporting Vietnam, including establishing a partnership with the Group of Seven (G7) on energy transition.

Guterres applauded Vietnam’s efforts and said he understands the challenges Vietnam and other developing countries are facing in responding to climate change. He said the UN, and he personally, will continue to support Vietnam in this effort.

Ambassador Giang thanked the UN for its valuable support of Vietnam in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and climate change response, including its commitments to net zero emissions by 2050.

Mr. Giang said Vietnam will strive to fully carry out its commitments through swift and comprehensive measures for the benefit of the Vietnamese people.
