(VOVWORLD) -Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation on Thursday, focusing on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

President Xi put forth four proposals, including promoting a ceasefire and ending hostilities, ensuring the safety of civilians, conducting dialogue and negotiations, and the international community's efforts to promote peace. Mr. Xi emphasized that the conflicting parties, especially Israel, need to cease fire as soon as possible to prevent the situation from escalating.

He called on all parties to strictly abide by international law, avoid harming innocent civilians, and facilitate the evacuation of citizens of third countries. The Chinese leader also stressed the need to adhere to the major direction of finding a political solution through dialogue and negotiation for the Iranian nuclear issue. China is willing to continue to coordinate with all parties and play a constructive role in restoring peace in the Middle East, he said.
