The attack came after a barrage of bombings in Kabul where foreign armed forces had just completed a security mission. The suicide bomber detonated a suicide vest, killing 21 people who local officials said were anti-Taliban militiamen, four of them commanders. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack as well as for the bombings in Kabul that killed at least 51 people on Friday.
Afghanistan's security situation is deteriorating as Afghan forces battle Taliban militants without any support from NATO forces.
