PM arrives in Kunming, begins working trip to China

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage arrived at Kunming Changshui International Airport in China’s Yunnan province on Tuesday morning, starting their working trip in China.

During his stay until Friday, PM Chinh will attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Cooperation Summit. 

At these summits, in addition to traditional issues like economy, trade, investment, infrastructure connection, management and sustainable use of cross-border water resources, leaders will focus discussions on new issues, notably innovation.

In particular, at the 8th GMS Summit, leaders will approve the summit's Joint Declaration and Innovation Strategy for GMS Development 2030, acknowledge six documents on investment, environment and climate change, digitization, gender equality, health, commercial document digitization framework.

The Vietnamese PM will deliver speeches at the closed session and the plenary session of the 8th GMS Summit, the 10th ACMECS Summit, and the 11th CLMV Summit. He will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries within the framework of these conferences.

He will convey Vietnam’s message of valuing and contributing to the promotion of the GMS, ACMECS, and CLMV mechanisms, as well as overall Mekong sub-regional cooperation, creating a breakthrough in a new phase of development. 

The Prime Minister’s bilateral activities in Yunnan and Chongqing include meetings with leaders of China and Chinese provinces and cities, visits of economic and social establishments, and get-together with overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese community in China. 

He aims to continue strengthening and boosting friendly neighborliness and the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
