The Baghdad Communique underscored the centrality of the Palestinian issue, reaffirming the inalienable right to self-determination of Palestinian people.
It called on countries around the world to provide political, financial, and legal support to implement the plans adopted at the Emergency Arab Summit in Cairo, Egypt, and the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in March.
Arab leaders said that realizing these plans would pave the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution, while facilitating the post-war recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The communique once again rejected any attempt to resettle Palestinians outside their own territories. It also expressed strong solidarity of the Arab world with the people of Syria and Lebanon, called for political solutions to the ongoing conflicts in Yemen and Sudan, and underlined the importance of a national dialogue to achieve unity, prosperity, and development in Libya.
