Ambassador Tran Duc Binh, Director of the ASEAN Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, said: “First is the strong affirmation of the everlasting value of ASEAN unity. Unity is not only a continuation of tradition, but is truly the strength and compass that guides ASEAN to overcome all differences, respond to challenges and stand firm in the face of difficulties. All ASEAN countries emphasize unity as a prerequisite for ASEAN to maintain strategic autonomy, not be caught up in the vortex of great power competition, and proactively adapt to an uncertain world.”

The Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son made significant contributions to the success of the meetings, demonstrating a proactive, responsible and leading spirit, said Ambassador Binh.
“The orientations that the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister shared at the meetings closely followed the practical requirements and common concerns of the region. They were also linked to and supported the country's socio-economic development goals, such as economic growth, diversification of trade relations, investment and supply chains, market expansion, sci-tech development and innovation.”
Vietnam also demonstrated its leadership role by co-chairing two ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meetings with the UK and New Zealand and co-chairing Mekong-Japan and Mekong-Republic of Korea Foreign Ministers’ Meetings, which were supported by partner countries.
