On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh visited Tay Giang district, the hardest-hit locality in Quang Nam province, to inspect disaster recovery efforts. Flooding has wiped out roads and bridges there. Mr. Binh asked local authorities to use funds to support people whose lives have been disrupted and take steps to mitigate future disasters.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong visited and presented gifts worth 22,000 USD to Huong Hon commune in Thua Thien-Hue province.
The Vietnam Red Cross Society sent delegations bearing aid to Le Thuy and Quang Ninh, the most severely flooded districts in Quang Binh province.
According to Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich, his Ministry has prepared helicopters in Hue, Danang, and Hanoi ready for rescue mission and delivery of aid to isolated areas.
“The army is always prepared for any circumstances. The defense economics divisions and border guards are on duty around the clock to rescue flood victims. Every military unit is responsible for the safety of civilians near their base,” said General Lich.
