The talks were part of the Autumn Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City.
Replying the WEF Managing Director’s question about Vietnam's biggest driving force in the new era, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said "Thanks to agricultural development, we escaped hunger and poverty after the war and grown from an underdeveloped country to a developed country. Industry helped us become a developing country like today with an upper middle income and an 8% growth this year.”
“We determine that science and technology will help us achieve the goal of becoming a developed country with a high income by 2045. We are far-sighted, broad-minded, and think deeply and do big things. Achieving this goal is very challenging, but we cannot help but do it to make our country develop and the people be prosperous and happy,” PM Chinh went on.
Referring to Vietnam's contribution to global efforts, Prime Minister Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is ready to support and, together with the World Economic Forum, promote dialogue, make dialogue effective not only in places of conflicts, but also to bring peace, cooperation, and development to all countries so that no one is left behind.
