At a ceremony marking 50 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the UK held in Hanoi on Monday, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said that the establishment of the bilateral Strategic Partnership in 2010 and the Joint Declaration on the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership in 2020 underscored the resolute commitment and forward-thinking vision of both governments. Mr. Vu expressed his belief that the Vietnam-UK relationship will continue to flourish and expand across all sectors in the future.

British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew said that a lot has changed since 1973. The world in many ways has become much smaller, more interconnected. "We’ve become, together, a lot more interdependent both as countries and as people. And we have many shared interests," he said.
The Ambassador also said Vietnam has gone through an impressive journey of economic development and international integration which the UK is proud to be part of, adding that both countries are now working together on matters of global importance.
Ambassador Frew highlighted the untapped potential for collaboration between Vietnam and the UK in healthcare, research, renewable energy, investment, and business. He reaffirmed the UK's steadfast dedication to partnering with the people of both nations to nurture and enhance the enduring relationship between Vietnam and the UK.
