(VOVworld)- The 3^rd Congress of the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association opened in Hanoi on Monday. The delegates reviewed the development of Vietnamese-Indonesian relations in the past five years. The strategic partnership between the two countries has been strengthened contributing to the establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015 and to peace, stability, cooperation and development in Asia Pacific and the world at large.

The delegates elected a new Executive Board for the 2015-2020 term with Mr. Nguyen Dang Tien, VOV’s President, elected as the new President. Mr. Tien said:“In the next term, the new Executive Board will exert more efforts to diversify the Association’s activities and achieve more practical results. We hope to receive more support from the Party, State and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations as well as the close cooperation of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam and the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association”.

Marking the occasion, VUFO presented insignias “for peace, friendship between nations” to Ms Tran Thi Chung Chien and Tran Chien Thang for their contributions to bilateral relations between Vietnam and Indonesia.
