(VOVWORLD) - Van Don International Airport was inaugurated on December 30, 2018, after 2 years of construction, and the first commercial flights have taken off or landed there.  

Van Don International Airport in the Northeastern province of Quang Ninh is the first privately-owned airport with the investment capital of 330 million USD.

Van Don is designed to be a grade 4E airport in accordance with ICAO standards and a military airfield level 2. The airport's terminal has a capacity of handling 2.5 million passengers and 10,000 tons of cargoper year.

The airport is impressively designed with the harmonization of nature, trees, fish pond, open space. It also has an outdoor smoking area.

The lounge has stone wall panels and its picture screen features Ha Long Bay.

Security control system is equipped with high-tech including an advanced liquid explosive detector and automated luggage conveyor belts.

The check-in area has two lounges with open space and furniture imported from European leading brand names.

The VIP lounge is intricately designed, providing passengers with modern and comfortable space, a bar area, and other utilities.

The lounges for economy class are equipped with benches imported from Spain, battery charges, and sockets.

Well-known catering and retail brands are available to serve passengers

Free drinking water and toilets are arranged properly to meet the needs of all airport users, including the disabled and children.

The doors and roofs are made of glass and wood which makes full use of the sunlight and reduces heat radiation.

The view to the runway and immense mountains and sea afar.

Four modern conveyor belts can serve up to 1,200 passengers.

Four boarding bridges facilitate passengers to get on to the airplane in a safe way without being affected by any weather conditions. Van Don airport is expected to increase the number of passenger boarding bridges to 12 by 2030.

All the facilities including airport shuttle buses, aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment are imported.

The airport’s terminal roofs change to different colors from orange to red depending on weather conditions. The design imitates the image of sail yachts heading to the sea.

The 42 meter high Air Traffic Control tower assures safety for every flight.

Van Don International Airport receives the world’s most advanced airplanes.
