Dancesport is one of the much awaited sports as it combines sport and dance, allowing dancers to improve their physical fitness and mental well-being. Through their performances, the audience have the chance to see attractive body movements and unpredictable changes during each melody. For these reasons, large crowds flock to Long Bien Sporting Hall on the outskirts of Hanoi on May 15-16 to watch best dancers from Southeast Asian countries put up their performances as part of SEA Games 31. It’s a rare chance for local residents to view dancesport performances. Dancers receive thunderous applause from crowds of spectators packing the competition hall. At this SEA Games, the sport sees the participation of athletes from the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, and hosts Vietnam. Dancers are required to compete in 12 categories, including Samba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive, Latin, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Standard. After two competition days, Vietnamese dancers win five gold, one silver, and five bronze medals. Philippine dancers bag five gold, five silver, and two bronze medals.
