On New Year’s Eve, Hoang Dieu, Tan Vu, and Chua Ve seaport in Hai Phong welcomed their first cargoes of the year. Tran Luu Phuong, Director of Hoang Dieu seaport, said they unloaded 21,000 tons of steel from the vessel Jian Rui of Panama.

“Hoang Dieu is the biggest seaport in the north. The forecast is for many difficulties in 2018 but we believe that with strong determination, unity, and creativity, we’ll complete our plan.”

Tan Thuan port, an affiliate of the Sai Gon Port Joint Stock Company in Ho Chi Minh City, said its first cargo arrived safely to bless a good year ahead. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy General Director of the Sai Gon Port Joint Stock Company, said this year the company aims to disburse 10 million tons of goods.

“We plan to bring into operation all of Sai Gon-Hiep Phuoc port to raise our total capacity to 1 million tons. We’ll relocate terminals inside the city to Nha Be district in line with government and city planning.”

Localities nationwide have welcomed millions of Vietnamese and foreign touritsts, particularly Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Quang Ninh province. Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province received 34,000 tourists, including 28,000 visitors from China, South Korea, Taipei-China and European countries. Nguyen Duc Long Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of Quang Ninh province’s People’s Committee, says: “Quang Nam province hopes foreign tourists will increase after it has upgraded transportation infrastructure with direct international flights, together with high-end entertainment activities, shopping centers, and natural scenic spots. They will stay here longer and spend more.”

On Monday, Da Nang city welcomed 200 foreign tourists on a flight from South Korea to Da Nang international airport. More than 30,000 people, including 24,000 foreigners, visited Hue city during the New Year vacation. Hanoi hosted 230,000 visitors, including 70,000 foreigners.
