The Ministry of Education and Training has asked localities to pay special attention to children’s psychology and help them adapt to the pandemic situation.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that a high vaccination rate among children 12 to 18 years old will allow them to safely attend school. “Localities have been asked to reopen schools for secondary students after the Lunar New Year holiday. Kindergartens and primary schools should prepare both children and parents. It is necessary to have the consent and cooperation of the parents.”

Hanoi has suspended direct learning for the longest period of time. Today more than 600,000 students in grades 7 to 12 will return to school. Schools have been disinfected to welcome students back safely.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Rector of Le Quy Don Secondary-High School in Cau Giay district, said: “We have trained for an emergency situation, because when the students go to school, the risk of infection is very high. We have disinfected all classes and facilities and arranged school buses. The students don’t eat at school.”

The Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee approved a plan for pupils in grades 1 to 6 in 18 suburban districts to go to school on Thursday. Depending on the pandemic situation, Hanoi will consider allowing pupils in grades 1 to 6 in 12 inner districts to go to school on February 21.

About 600,000 students in grades 7 to 12 in Ho Chi Minh City returned to school yesterday. Kindergartens and primary schools will have a meeting with parents to discuss their children attending school on a voluntary basis.
