With the theme “Golden era of the ancient capital”, the festival will chronicle major national milestones. Stage programs and street activities will recreate the atmosphere of heroic moments in history.
The opening ceremony was enhanced by music, dance, and cinema presented on a moving stage involving revolving platforms, sliding rails, and 3D mapping technology.
The festival will also feature a concert called “Ninh Binh-Morning star Convergence”, a street festival showcasing traditional costumes, street performances, a traditional market selling local handicrafts and specialties, and folk games.
“Ninh Binh Festival 2024 recreates the historical journey of the Vietnamese people from establishing the capital in Hoa Lu to moving the capital to Thang Long-Ha Noi. We organize the festival around a convergence of cultural and historical heritages and contemporary national and global values,” Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, said.
The Festival will focus on providing activities and experiences for people of different ages that will teach them about Vietnam’s history.
“We designed costumes for the festival based on historical documents to pay tribute to our ancestors and spread our love of traditional costumes to young people,” Pham Thu Hang, the festival’s costume advisor, said.
A traditional costume competition will be held during the festival until the end of November. We hope this program will make Ninh Binh a center for traditional costumes and cinema, according to Hang.
The festival will include many art and sports activities, including the 26th Red River Delta Artistic Photography Festival, the U18-J30 International Tennis Tournament, the Vietnam International Challenge 2024 badminton tournament, the Trang An International Marathon 2024, and a trade promotion exhibition.
It will wrap up on Saturday with an extravagant electronic folk music concert at the Thung Nham ecotourism site.
