Doan Minh Huan said that at a meeting in Ninh Binh city on Monday with Firmin Edouard Matoko, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations, who is leading a UNESCO delegation on an official visit to Vietnam until Wednesday.
Ninh Binh’s heritage revival models including both tangible cultural heritage and residential heritage, a city park model, or a typical outdoor innovation center based on natural heritage and heritage inspiration should be highlighted.
The provincial official called on UNESCO to facilitate Ninh Binh's city of Hoa Lu to soon join the network of heritage cities and creative cities.
Matoko spoke highly of Ninh Binh's goals, visions, and development orientations, saying that the locality has the foundation to become a millennium heritage city and a creative city in the future.
He said UNESCO will connect Ninh Binh with international experts in related fields and organise forums for the province to learn from similar models in the world.
UNESCO will also consider selecting Ninh Binh to host UNESCO conferences and share the province's experiences in heritage preservation and promotion as well as in the successful coordination with UNESCO and countries in the region.
