Islands in Truong Sa Special Zone ready for election day

(VOVWORLD) - These days, islands in the Truong Sa Special Zone, Khanh Hoa province, are finalizing preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, scheduled for March 15.

Roads, residential areas and military units are decorated with flags, flowers, banners, and posters. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huy Phung, Political Commissar of Truong Sa Island, said: “The ballots cast by cadres, soldiers and people on the island show citizen’s right and their political resolve, trust and responsibility for the country’s future. We believe voters will choose capable and virtuous representatives who can reflect the will and aspirations of the people, contributing to building an increasingly strong National Assembly and local administrations that serve the nation and the people and safeguard the sacred sovereignty of the national seas and islands.”

Meetings and training sessions on election procedures have been held for officers, soldiers and residents on islands. Nguyen Thi Lo, a resident on Song Tu Tay Island, said: “I’m proud to vote at the election. I’ll wear my traditional ao dai featuring the red flag with a yellow star to to poll. I’d like to thank the Party and the State for creating the conditions for us.”

Islands in the Truong Sa Special Zone are scheduled to hold their election on Sunday, one week earlier than on the mainland.
