A day earlier, they conducted a joint patrol in the shared waters between Vietnam and Cambodia. During the patrol, the two sides performed a saluting procedure at sea among naval ships of ASEAN member states, exchanged maritime information, practiced signaling using hand flags, signal lamps, and whistles in accordance with the International Code of Signals, and implemented the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES), which is used among the navies of Western Pacific countries.
Captain Phung Duc Huy, Deputy Commanding Officer and Chief-of-Staff of Brigade 127, and leader of the Vietnamese patrol ship, said the joint patrol aims to maintain security, peace, and stability in the shared waters between the two countries; create favorable conditions for Vietnamese and Cambodian fishermen to operate safely; and continue to develop the cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust between the two navies.
