At the workshop on developing a blue marine economy held early this month in Hanoi by the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communications and Education, experts and scientists called for strategic measures, innovative thinking, and a legal and policy framework to develop the economy while protecting the environment.

Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy, deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communications and Education, said: “To make Vietnam a strong country at sea and rich from the sea and assure sustainable development, prosperity, and security, we need innovative, breakthrough thinking in line with the global trend toward a sustainable, blue marine economy.”
